An electro-magnetic wave absorber for the suppression of electromagnetic waves from invading various electronic instruments is required to have the capability of absorbing electromagnetic waves of all frequencies in the ultra-high frequency range, for instance, UHF and microwave ranges as well as the lower frequency range such as the VHF range. Accordingly, it is necessary to form an electro-magnetic wave absorbing member of a material having a good dielectric constant.
Various synthetic resins including plastics and ceramics and inorganic materials such as carbides, oxides, silicon nitride and the like are known as materials having a good dielectric constant. Among them, the plastics materials are most promising, especially in view of production of molded articles of these materials and in view of that the molded products of the plastics materials can be easily obtained at low costs.
Various methods have been employed for the production of electro-magnetic wave absorbing members. One of the well known methods is to mold plastics material into the form of electro-magnetic wave absorber by an injection molding method or by a die casting method and to fix the electro-magnetic wave absorbing member onto a support body such as a metallic plate by fixing members such as screws or bolts or by welding.
In the method of molding electro-magnetic wave absorbers, however, a satisfactory electro-magnetic wave absorbing member may not be obtained when the electro-magnetic wave absorber is formed in a large size. A satisfactory electro-magnetic wave absorbing member may be obtained if the electro-magnetic wave absorber is formed in small sizes.
